So wat’cha, wat’cha, wat’cha want (wat’cha want)? End-of-year business insights from an unexpected source:

I initially resisted the urge to open my “Spotify Wrapped” playlist.

(I'm still a little weirded out by A.I. observing my music-listening habits, and I don't want to think I'm so special that my song choices are that fascinating).

But once gave in to the robot-overlords and opened it up, I was amused to see that my top two most-played artists were (drumroll)…

Giacomo Puccini, and

The Beastie Boys.

Yep… sounds about right.

I laughed at my own weirdness (and felt a twinge of pride at my range of taste).

I also realized that this data reflected two hallmarks of the past year in my business:

1) I took a lot of big risks and navigated new challenges.

That is: when I'm anxious and jittery, I've found that the best medicine for calming my nervous system is to blast the Beastie Boys and dance it out.

–I listened to a lot of Beastie Boys this year, because I was getting out of my comfort zone so much. I feel proud of myself for that.

2) The Puccini-listening was a result of one of the aforementioned risks:

Gettin' all dolled up for The Met with my long lost friend Mark from NYC. (We reconnected after I spotted him playing a news-anchor on the show “Succession";  but that's another story for another time).

I flew to New York to give a talk at Laura Belgray's “Shrimp Club” Mastermind Retreat (eek!). This was big for me, so I decided to reward myself by getting box seats for Puccini's opera La Bohème.

I listened to Puccini's masterpiece for weeks ahead of time, because I wanted to squeeze every drop of joy out of the experience by knowing the music backwards and forwards.

It worked.

I hope you'll take new risks and savor moments of joy in 2024.

One tool for helping that happen is to use the Soulful Solopreneur: Annual Workbook for Reflection & Renewal free resource I’ve made for you.

It's designed to help you savor wins from 2023, while viewing your intentions for 2024 in a way that will shift your perspective and clarify your path to success.

I hope it'll delight you even more than opening your Spotify Wrapped. I'd love to hear any “aha's” you it gives you.

(And maybe you can put on your own 2023 playlist while you fill it out and see just how far you've come this year!).

 To your Success,

Jane
