(I’ve still got the moves…) There’s still time to finish your 2023 business goals, solopreneur:

I just got back from my second trip to Colorado this year (getting to write a sentence like that is one of the joys of solopreneur-life!).

This trip wasn't like my earlier backpacking adventure, though.

This time, after a stop in Denver to see some coaching clients, I zipped down to Colorado Springs for a class reunion at Colorado College, the quirky little liberal arts school (and ground-zero for my love of random trivia) I went to back in the day.

Besides being super fun (the reunion devolved into us doing the “Kid n' Play” to old 90s hip-hop*), it was also just fascinating.

(*For non-GenX-ers: the Kid n' Play is a fun dance that you should feel sad you missed out on).

-That is, it was amazing to see what people were up to, from my classmate researching signs of life on other planets, to the one who's starred in a few movies & TV shows, to the one who'd performed 15 colonoscopies the day before (not envious of him…).

More deeply than just catching up with former friends, crushes, and dorm-mates though, it just felt like a good "Check In."

A reunion is a mini existential-wake-up that time is moving fast. It's a good reminder of who you were, who you were hoping to become, and the pointlessness of putting off anything you're wanting to pursue now

I found myself wondering what I'd want to be telling my classmates about my life in 5 years when we meet again, and what I'd need to do now to make that a reality.

Here’s the thing:

In life, as well as in business, it's good to periodically pause, take stock, and realign with yourself, your values, and your relationships.

We're already well into the fourth quarter of the year, and 2024 will be here before you know it. The time to start planning your next year in business is coming up fast.

I'll be sending some info about an upcoming workshop (and even a little day-retreat here in the NC mountains!) soon to help make 2024 your best year yet in your business.

But in the meantime, you've still got some time to finish out 2023 with a bang. Look back at your goals from the beginning of the year:

  • What are some things you wanted to accomplish, and if you haven't yet, what can you do now to make them happen?

(As my college-student self knew: it still counts if you turn in the assignment at the very last minute, as long as it gets done!).

Comment and let me know what you're working on. And of course, be sure to reflect on whatever mountains (metaphorical or real) you've already reached this year. You did it!
